We partner with our customers through the development of devices, systems and methods; continue to work together through testing, evaluation and follow-up; and maintain our commitment through implementation and commercialization. Our staff includes highly experienced field operations personnel, mechanical and electrical engineers, automation specialists, and master machinists and technicians. Our operations experience and engineering know-how enable us to ask the right questions and to develop application-specific solutions.
ULC Robotics R&D and Implementation Projects
Robotics
- Development of a multi-purpose pipeline robot for ID weld removal, grinding and brushing
- Development of ASR annular space robots for reconnecting service tees to inserted pipe without excavation
- Development of the VGC tethered crawler for inspection of large diameter live gas mains
- Testing, evaluation and commercialization of CISBOT internal cast iron joint sealing robots
- Testing, evaluation and demonstration of the Explorer long-range untethered live gas main inspection robot
Pipeline Video Inspection
- Development of the HP Gas Camera self-propelled pushrod mini-camera system for inspection of small diameter live gas mains
- Development of the Pipeline Periscope stationary zoom camera system for inspection of large diameter live gas mains
- Development of the Pipeline Periscope SC stationary zoom camera system for inspection of live sewer mains
Tools and Equipment
- Development of a Pneumatic Tool Adapter for mounting handheld jackhammers and drills directly to backhoe buckets
- Development of grease injection device for the emergency stop off of gas service connections
